Editor’s Comment: If a guy rams through a presidential security checkpoint for any reason (drunk or not) the driver should have taken about 50 rounds of 9 mm from every Uzi in the neighborhood. But of course in Panama the security guards were half asleep and caught flat footed by the actions of the drunk. Razor sharp, tight as a drum. Does anyone wonder why they hired an Israeli company and former Mossad agents to protect Martinelli? Your average Panamanian security guard armed with a rusty .38 – Scotch tape wrapped around the pistol grip and all – doesn’t serve to generate a whole lot of confidence in anyone. This incident simply highlights how hard it is to protect anything in this country. Generally speaking the quality of security personnel is way below standard.
