Yacht “Pandora Aussi” Catches Fire, Burns, and Sinks in Bay of Panama

The Panama Maritime Authority (AMP), through their Department of Marine Accident Investigation, is investigating the fire which occurred yesterday, Sunday, on board a yacht named the “Pandora Aussi” according to a press release from the Senan. The yacht caught fire and burned in the area of the Bay of Panama, and there were no reports of injuries among the crew or passengers. It was reported that the yacht, which was 10 miles southeast of Taboguilla island at the time of the fire, was carrying five passengers and two crew members. The yacht was a 51 foot Bertram. The occupants of the boat were rescued by those aboard the yacht “Fish Story.” Officials from the Panama Canal Authority and the National Naval Air Service (Senan) also arrived on the scene. The yacht’s occupants came to participate in a fishing tournament near the island of San Jose when the fire occurred at 12:45 yesterday afternoon. (La Prensa)
