You still should not drink the water being produced by the Chilibre Water Treatment Plant, said the Director of the Institute of Aqueducts and Sewers (IDAAN), Manuel Ruiz. According to the Director, today the IDAAN together with the Ministry of Health (MOH) will issue a report on the quality of the water, taking into account the results of bacteriological tests conducted on the liquid yesterday. Gonzalez insisted that improvements in the turbidity of Lake Alajuela are not predictable, and it all depends on weather conditions. Since last December 8, due to high levels of contamination in the raw source water, the water treatment plant in Chilibre has not been functioning at an optimal level.
Parts of the population of Panama City have gone without water service for weeks. Just when the situation started to improve, on Monday damage occurred to the feeders, so again several communities were left without water service. Although since yesterday part of the plant operation has been restarted, people still should not drink the water due to doubts about its quality. (La Estrella)
