By DON WINNER for Panama-Guide.com – The projections from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Pacific Tsunami Warning Center predict the tsunami generated by the massive 8.9 earthquake that occurred last night near Honshu, Japan will begin to reach the Pacific coast of Panama starting at about 5:48 pm local time. Their warning contains estimated arrival times for other places in Panama, specifically Punta Mala at 6:34 pm, Puerto PiƱa at 6:44 pm, and Balboa Heights (Panama City) at 8:55 pm. Comparing those times to the Pacific tides for this evening, it’s easy to see that the tsunami should strike Panama right as high tide is occurring. This evening high tide occurs at 7:48 pm but at a relatively small 13.35 feet. Here are a few images to help visualize the potential threat. (more) Click Here To Read The Full Article (182 words)
