New Low Cost Colombian Airline Starts Service To Panama

Travel & TourismThe Colombian discount airline “VivaColombia” which has been in business for two years opened its first international route, targeting Panama City.
“The airline has six aircraft and starting today they will make eleven international flights per week, seven between Bogota and Panama and four between Medellin and Panama,” said company president Juan Emilio Posada, shortly before the departure of the maiden flight to Panama City, from the El Dorado airport in Bogota.

Flights departing from Bogota to Panama City will be daily, while those originating in Medellin will be on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

According to the airline, the flights will arrive at Panama Pacifico, the closest to the main destinations of the neighboring country, because this international airport is located 30 minutes from the beaches of the Pacific and only one hour from the Colon Free Zone.

“We’re not a business airline. We seek only those customers who want the lowest cost, so the idea is that the aircraft will be very full and the rates even lower,” Posada said, saying round trip tickets between Panama and Bogota are $198.

Posada said VivaColombia expects the number of monthly passengers to Panama wil be approximately 14,000. (Panama America)
